Why didn't we win the World Cup?

Starting with a tantrum, this book asks: If Mexico has so much talent and resources, why do we not win anything? The tantrum evolves into a series of questions: Why do we have successful Mexicans on an individual level? Why does that success seem to be the exception rather than the norm in our culture? And perhaps most importantly: What does it mean to be Mexican? What is our true identity? Why are we the way we are?

The author uses soccer, particularly the national team, as a miniature representation of us; as the microcosm of our identity and our collective personality. This book does not offer magical recipes. Instead, it poses questions and challenges the reader to reconcile with their lost identity, to question the past and rethink the future based on a renewed identity. It is a challenge for each person, from their own perspective, to win their own World Cup. And for every Mexican, even if it's one by one, to help rebuild the damaged identity of this country.
